I have been working on this pic on and off again for probably a year. It has taken me absolute forever. I have never drawn the sea before. I have never drawn a dress like this before. It was a massive learning curve. I also had a very specific image in my head which certainly didn't help. I am . . . content with the final result. Its fine, and I honestly just needed to be done with it.
A while back I posted a reference sheet of Salem as a harpy, stating it was one of the forms she can take in an AU I have. This picture takes place in that same AU, and I wrote a little oneshot to go with it. Beyond the Broken Waves
It's amazing how many times I've had this exact experience on tumblr:
I browse a tag and spot someone posting something along the lines of, "I can't BELIEVE how many people unfollowed me after I posted about [extremely worthy cause]! It just goes so show how many [oppressors of various kinds] there are on this site! Unfollow me if you [whatever]!"
And then I'll view the replies and see that a bunch of other accounts have responded, "Wow, so true, we're better off without them!"
Out of curiosity, I will go and find the post(s) in question. And, yes, you guessed it, it's almost always a post about how random tumblr followers need to personally take responsibility for the pain of everyone suffering under [XYZ global evil]. The post also usually says that the way followers should do this is to reblog and expose all their followers to OP's rabid howling. You see, reblogging an """activist""" post whose only call to action is to experience self flagellation and abject misery is the ONLY way forward. If followers don't do that, they're Bad People. OP can SEE them interacting with their popular fandom takes, but not the posts about [worthy cause], and they are DISGUSTED. Etc., etc., so on.
Every time, it is clear that it's not the CAUSE about which they're posting that made however many people unfollow them. It's that the OP has made the choice to start posting vacuous misery-mongering shit and people don't want to watch. āā (ā Ā ā Ėā _ā Ėā )ā ā
No matter how many times I see this play out, it takes me by surprise every time.

I did have the misfortune of seeing that, yes. Theyāre absolutely crazy. Completely lost in fiction and their own delusions, unable to see whatās real. So I do hope theyāll get some whacking tomorrow, even if it wonāt be direct. They probably wonāt understand it either but at least weāll have the joy of witnessing their humiliation vol 17172 lmao
