"Robb is it really so bad that my children own something that resembles my family?" she questioned him, hands on her hips as she gave him her best scowl. "It's not just that and you know it!" He snapped but kept his voice low, glaring at her defiance for a moment before sighing "You know I love you, but given the history between our families, yes, I'd rather our children don't wear antlers or manes" he was giving her that look that was half anger and half a plead but it did nothing to better her mood. She stomped away muttering her discontent, the baby clothes still clutched in her hands.
She couldn't understand what was so bad about it, they already have two boys who couldn't look more like the late lord stark had looked, all brown hair and long faces, eyes grey and river blue. Their littlest ones though were twins, a boy and a girl who couldn't be more a mixture of their parents blood and different from each other. Joanna had hair as curly as hers, but red as Robb's, with emerald eyes that seemed to have a fire blazing behind them. Tyron was the opposite, blond locks and river blue eyes, much quieter than his sister but also more observant. She had made a pair of sleeping overalls with hoods for them, one yellow with little lion ears for him and one brown with small antlers for her. Of course it'd hadn't been an accident, she knew very well anyone would instantly remember the sigils from her mother's and father's families. She didn't mind it though, they were her past and as much a part of her as her Stark family, regardless of what their bannermen would say.
She was surprised that he had made such a fuss about it though, he out of all people ought to know she was still the same girl he had fallen in love with, the color of her cloak did not change who she was. She went back to the nursery, dismissing the maid that was watching over her children as they slept. It wasn't fair that she couldn't dress them as she wished to, they were as much hers as they were his, as much southern blood as northern. Why couldn't they learn of the other side of their family one day? Specially when they both had some of her looks. She sat down by the window as she thought about that, had her wolf truly forgotten that she'd always be a lioness? His lioness as he had so often joked...
It was already nighttime when he came to her. She had already finished feeding their children, cradling one in each arm as she sat on the armchair, still thinking of their argument. "Cella..." his voice was soft again and she looked up at him "I'm sorry about what I said...I shouldn't have...I was stressed from work and when they started speaking of how you'd corrupt our children, I just lost it..." he sighed deeply, kneeling before her "I know that's absurd, there is no way you could ever do anything that would be bad for our children, but I became angry all the same. Not angry because I agreed with them, but because you had given them reason to say those things....I'm sorry, it was completely wrong of me...can you forgive me?" he looked up at her with those puppy eyes of him and she wished she didn't love him so much.
"That would depend, I believe" she started, her voice weak from the tears she was holding in "Can you love your children, even if they're Baratheon or Lannisters? Because really Robb, they are, same as you were always a bit Tully..." she met his gaze with her own sad one, knowing he'd see she did not want to argue any more than he did. He got up, taking their golden boy in his arms gently, rocking him slowly the same way she had seen his mother do. "You know I can and I do...I love you don't you?" he glanced down at her "And you've always been more Lannister than you care to admit, but I love you all the same...Don't you see Myrcella? How much I love you, perhaps even more because of the way you defied me with your eyes every time we saw each other in the beginning?" He put their son on his crib as he spoke, then did the same with their daughter. "I love you...I know this may be hard to believe, but the fact that you always question me about these things, the way you insist on wearing red and green and gold while, those bright summery colors, while everyone else is as dark as the night outside...I love it" he sighed, closing his eyes as he leaned over the cribs "You're yourself, and you're the kindest and strongest woman I've ever known, even my mother...You didn't show it at first...but when you did, when you started showing how sweet you are...how could I not love you?"
She was already crying and couldn't just let him speak any longer, she got up, going to him and burying her face on his shoulder to make him stop. She could feel the weight leave his shoulders when she leaned against him, and slowly, he turned to embrace her, burying his face on her hair. "I know" she murmured against him, her fears put to rest by his words "I love you too...even when you're such a Stark" she chuckled lightly, feeling him wrap his arms tighter around her and knowing he'd understand what she meant even if she didn't say it.
"Foolish old wolf..." she murmured after a long moment of silence, he was far from old, but the frown he'd give her whenever she said that always made her giggle "Don't push your luck cub...this old wolf can still pin you down if he so desires" she could hear the smirk on his voice "Oh I highly doubt it" she teased, nuzzling his neck "Is that so?" he looked down at her, not a single trace of their previous argument in his eyes "Yes, very much so" she grinned as he kissed her, pulling her up into his arms. "I suppose I'll just have to prove you wrong then" he said matter-of-factly as he carried her over his shoulders up to their chambers, chuckling when she started to protest weakly for him to put her down, knowing she did so with a smile on her face, playing the same game they had already played a thousand times before.
