My mom and I have always been tight. And I won’t lie, it’s been hard at times on my journey to be upfront with her about my changes, but when we have talked about my transition, it always comes back to the fundamental core of my mom’s love for me: I just want you to be happy. And it’s why I’m doing my best to try and help her learn along the way. My drag mother @muchduchess has been there for me since day one. And she’s seen a lot (a looooooooooooooot) of my bullshit. She’s given me tough love to dive into my art with the skills she knows I have. And she has been there when I’ve needed love and insight my mom hasn’t been able to give. She’s always encouraged me and has really helped to make the #houseofeffort shine. My daughter @mrs.veronicamitchells has taught me how to translate my strengths to better her own. I’m really truly proud of her and what she’s done on and offstage. And I hope once we are past this, I hope she is able to finally show Kansas City what a talented queen she is. There’s so many other mother figures I have - but this post would become a novel. Just know that I’m grateful today for all the love and support that I’m shown. As cheesy as it is to say - there truly is nothing else like a mother’s love. #mothersday https://www.instagram.com/p/CAA1EM1j2Bh/?igshid=txbvg1rz4rvz
