When I first viewed my house with the estate agent, I was led into a tiny room & feared (as it had a sink) it was the kitchen, my heart sank. He then announced this was actually the ‘laundry room’ I don’t think he was quite prepared for my reaction: running around the car park with my underpants on my head, fists raised, football chanting the ‘Hallelujah’ chorus. Laundry rooms in London are rare. My laundry room top tips, don’t hate me because I’ve got it all: - If you are planning a house from scratch (stick with me) put the laundry room by the front door as everyone will come in and say ‘your house smells nice’ - Colour-coded cleaning cloths. If you haven’t seen The League of Gentlemen sketch with the toad breeders ‘the towels…white for hands, brown for feet, green for torso, thighs and seat’ well, I have similar insanity with cleaning cloths. It’s not because I’m neurotic (‘oh, you are’ partner says) it’s, basically, the window cloths were causing a smear if they had a hint of non window-cleaning fluid. Also, all can be chucked on a hot wash & used hundreds of times. As much as I want to, I won’t bore you with the uses. - ‘Clean/dirty’ I chuck a mini chalkboard label I created with a white pen in baskets that are washed or about to be. This stops anyone chucking things in the wrong basket or if you can’t be arsed folding after it comes out the dryer you will know its clean when you do. - Spray rails.
