@hotheadedchild
Usually, Ivan would spent his lunchtime break within the confines of the store; nibbling at sandwiches amongst the swaths of blooming sunflowers. This time was slightly different. Uazha had gone on a carbohydrate-binge and devoured all of the bread in the house before Ivan had even returned from his morning jogs, thus forcing Ivan to venture out into the dreaded and incredibly busy world of lunchtime Utopia to find himself something to eat.
Heâd settled himself down at his usual haunt, complete with a cup of steaming tea and a warm toastie, when he spotted a young child sitting alone on the pavement outside the cafe. Although Ivan wasnât the type to pry, this kid didnât look to be much more than 8 and surely wasnât supposed to be alone in the middle of the city. Especially not at midday on a Wednesday; didnât this kid have school or something? Quickly glancing at the clock, Ivan decided not to intervene unless the child was still there when heâd finished his lunch. The kid could have a parent whoâd just briefly popped into a shop, a caregiver whoâd surely come around at any second to whisk them away home.
And yet, twenty minutes passed by without a single adult approaching the child. With nothing but crumbs on his plate and milky dregs in his cup, Ivan got up to approach the kid.
â...Hey, are you lost?â
