Mortician - Domain of Death
Mortician is absolutely one of my favorite bands and this album is fucking awesome! Itโs that classic mortician sound. The overwhelming grind and fuzz. A wall of powerful deathgrind that just slams into you and overwhelms all your senses. This is the kinda music you can drown in. And not a peaceful drowning like you would into someoneโs eyes. A brutal, head pushed beneath the waves, eyes going bloody, desperate, fighting for breathe drowning.
A good mortician record has a few simple ingredients. 1: an insanely powerful and distorted bass that carries the rhythm and provides this insane pushing powerful sound. 2. A guitar thatโs playing along with the bass, and is just distorted but has the tenor turned up so it can cut through that low low distortion that fills out the whole low end of the bands noise. 3. Absolutely insanely guttural vocal that morph and form into and out of the wall of distortion being produced by the two live instruments. 4. A solid drum machine thatโs been programmed to hit on every note and go as fast as it can to enunciate every single punch of the bass. 5. And finally a bunch of awesome horror samples that go from goofy to creepy to all over the place.
Thatโs a perfect mortician record to me and this fits the bill. Definitely a great great record.
