Hopetherunner has a contagious smile... I seriously can't feel bad when I see her post a selfie. Her son is adorable too.
This is probably going to be a long post...
Had a great few days even with the lack or workouts and some setbacks. This weekend we had the family over for a b-day party for my daughter. That was a great time. However, during the party I went to stand up and realized I couldn't. After a couple minutes worth of contortions, I was finally able get out of the folding chair I was sitting in and my back was hosed. Not sure what the heck I did, don't remember any issues or straining it. Evidently, when I sat down to take a break and visit it stiffened up.
So no running yesterday. Damnit.
It's about 90% better today after getting it put back by my chiropractor yesterday, so I'm hopefully going to get out for a run. But it's just another thing adding to a long list of frustrations. I've tried not to talk too much because I don't want to start sounding like I'm having a pitty party. It seems every time I turn around I injure myself and have some sort of setback - and usually the injuries aren't directly related to working out! Then there's my weight. I'm up somewhere between 312 and 317 depending on when I measure it. No matter what I try it just slowly keeps creeping higher and higher. Doesn't seem to matter what or how much I eat, how much I exercise, etc... I just slowly creep up.
Well, I could make it go up fast I guess. Heh, not going to do that. Although, it's hard to have self control when putting forth all the effort gives you nothing. Obviously there's slip up's here and there. I had cake and ice cream this weekend for the party - it didn't seem to make any difference.
So that's why you haven't seen WIW from me for a bit. I suppose I should be doing it out of honesty but I can't handle it right now.
Going hand in hand with this slow, but constant, weight gain has been fatigue. Crazy fatigue. I get 7-8 hours of sleep and it feels like I didn't get 2. I don't have a problem staying awake - so I'm not sleepy, I just don't have energy for anything. Every workout requires psyching up for it. This time last year, I was a human "tigger". I had so much energy I was annoying to those around me.
So... last year I had energy and I was able to lose weight WHEN I WORKED AT IT. Now, I have this incredible fatigue and I can't even begin to describe and among many things I can't seem to lose any weight either.
So I'm going to go to the doc tonight and talk to her. Maybe it's a thyroid thing or something. I know a few folks with thyroid issues and when they don't take their meds what they describe is largely what I feel. Maybe it's something else, who knows.
Alright, done with the crap. Last night we had Hope (hopetherunner.tumblr.com) over for dinner. She came over because I'm taking her spot in the warrior dash this year as she can't make it for this one. Originally, I wasn't going to do it this year but it's a deal I couldn't refuse and that extra nudge I needed. Seemed like a good excuse to get together!
FWIW, did some extra lean home-made burgers on the grill and locally grown corn on the cob.
Had a great evening! She's so much fun to talk to. It's really a blessing to have met so many awesome folks like her here on tumblr.
@hopetherunner liked your post: Just a little fun with Actors
