Musings on Eldritch Moon, Magic the Gathering
I am the kind of person who believes in the concept of “Hopebright”; to counteract the very grimdark future and fantasy settings, nothing appeals to me greater than the idea of a positive future; a bright future.
So seriously, why did they ruin Innistrad?
For those of you who don’t know, Innistrad was this beautiful gothic horror setting; but in the thrilling conclusion of Innistrad, an archangel was released, humanity was saved, and ultimately, it felt very Hopebright.
Zendikar is the place for Eldrazi. Zendikar is the place for that dystopian, alternate future filled with horrible confusion and Lovecraftian horror.
Get them out of our Innistrad.
I will still play Eldritch Moon. I still love Magic the Gathering. But is it so goddamn hard, as a White player, to have a setting where White is not hiding some greater evil? Some great corruption? Innistrad was the one place where it felt like maybe good intentions and kind words won out the day.
But just playing! Nahiri hates you, Sorin, so screw all the humans who live on your plane.
