I'm curious what size yarn you use and how much it really matters which size you use. Also hook size. I know it impacts the final size of the project but I'm not sure if bigger yarn would so be clunkier and make some details harder or whatever else.
Medium worsted (4) yarn size, and then hook size 3.25 mm
A few skeins of mine are bigger than 4, and I have to adjust my tension tighter to keep the size I'm used to, especially when other yarns I use in the same crochet are the usual size. Bigger yarn as in the chunky chenille kind of yarn that's pretty common with amigurumi is too big for my liking and yes, would make a lot of details harder to see. I would have to scale my designs differently and use a LOT more skeins to achieve the same kind of aesthetic I do for my normal crochets.
