VA - Safety Veil [Honest Electronics]
It hurts, but here it is... Safety Veil is a two hour ambient compilation, a rush-release due to the catastrophe that is happening on the island. Our forests are burning, nature is turning into ashes, and it hurts so much.
All the proceeds from the sale of the compilation will be used for immediate relief of the recent forest fires victims, long-term reforestation and/or animal rescue teams. As Honest Electronics states, it is time for our community to give back to the forests that we love so much, let’s help!
Various Artists - Mutual Ground II
Honest Electronics creating the mutual ground for artist from the island, building a platform that gives them the chance to be heard.
I see Honest Electronics as a natural unforced extension to The Gathering, a mini festival that started on the island almost a decade ago, obviously not as a festival but rather as a gathering. A lot of creativity stemmed ever since.
Catch them on their weekly radio show on Mondays at barkingcats.live, presented by Aristodemos, whose contribution to the island’s underground electronic music scene is just beyond words. On Fridays barkingcats.live hosts Dishonest Records, Honest Electronics’ sub-label, which focuses on a more dance orientated and club sound.
Billy D - reMotorik
Sounds from the island. Cypriot talent remixing Billy D’s Motorik.
Essabbagh for Radio al hara
Recorded sometime in 2020. Essabagh comes from Lebanon. He popped up from my new casual source of music, barkingcats.live, when he was doing the guest mix last Saturday, followed by an interview at the Honest Electronics show on Monday. He is part of island-based label Honest Electronics.
Radio al hara is based a Palestine-based radio to which I bear big respect. During the past few days it had to go silent as a way to raise awareness of waht os happening in Palestine. Our thoughts are with them, and everyone who struggles for their rights, their land, those who have the currage to stand for what they have been deprived of, what they deserve and what they love.
P. S. I decided to dedicate the rest of the month to music coming from the island, this little paradise somewhere in the Mediterranean, where lots is going on, and much more are about to come. It's a long way to go, not an easy way.
