of the Four Loves, aplatonic strikes philia and aromantic strikes eros. this leaves storge and agape. imo agape is the really important one
Is this about my Quakerism questioning and love post?
I'm not entirely familiar with religious categorisations of love, but I know agape is supposed to mean charity? And like I get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't say that charity is *inherently* a form of love, as many other emotions can cause people to act charitably (like shame, guilt, self-importance, boredom, etc.) The action itself might seem loving from the outside, but that doesn't mean the interior emotions match. In contrast, being aromantic doesn't mean philia/affectionate love isn't felt towards others, simply that the affection isn't led by romantic feelings.
Although I mostly disagree, thanks for sharing this with me anyway! I definitely need to think more about this (and now I'm adding C.S. Lewis' The Four Loves to my reading list...)
