Kaltxì! As the title says, this is a guide to help my fellow Na'vi siblings. Of course, this isn't strictly for transspecies beings and could be used by anyone who wants to express their Na'vi identity and heritage. (Also for personal use........) Manifestation (subs specifically) can also be used for the stuff I've listed.

These lists are subject to change, so look out for any updates or add-ons. Also, feel free to suggest what you would like on this list through asks!!!!

And of course, ALL of these are optional.

Physical modifications (permant & temporary):

Makeup for your markings and 'stripes'. If you want a version of it without using any bright colors, this is a good example.

Fang veneers/caps if you don't have them naturally. There's many tutorials online of how to make them and lots of information to get them yourself.

Making your ear pointier through prosthetics (plastic (?)/FX) or surgical modification.

Glow-in-the-dark tattoos or makeup to simulate the bioluminescent markings from your Na'vi form.

Colored eye contacts that give the impression of enlarged eyes.

Dying and styling your hair according to how you were in source or to your clan.

Get the same piercing or body mods you have in your Na'vi form.

You could paint your nails the same as your skin or nail color as a Na'vi (which for nailbeds would be around two or three shades lighter than your Na'vi skin tone). It's best to keep them short since the Na'vi are hunter-gathers. You can do the same to your toes as well.

Gear

MUST READ: Gear is anything that physically expresses your alterhuman identity, so it doesn't strictly have to be the stuff that I've listed or that the general community deems as gear. Gear can be as discreet as a necklace or as outward as a tail

Make or buy (through commissioning) a tail.

Make or buy (through commissioning) a full or half mask of your Na'vi form.

Make or buy (through commissioning) your songcord.

Make or buy (through commissioning) your own kuru, typically out of yarn or hair.

Make or buy (through commissioning) your past belongings you had in source.

Lifestyle:

Travel to (vacationing) and spend time in places that resemble the scenery of your clan's home.

Engage in more physical activities such as swimming, exercise (walking, running, yoga, etc.), dancing, archery, boxing, acrobatics, etc.

Wear Na'vi swimwear when swimming or going to the beach.

Engage with your local community by getting out more to meet new people and make friends, as well as finding community with other Na'vi (@thesoulofeywa has a good server....)

Practice and use Na'vi vocals as well as adopt Na'vi mannerisms. For example, greeting people with "Oel ngati kameie" (whether the hand gesture, greeting, or both.

Learn Na'vi (in your specific dialect if possible) and it's sign language counterpart and incorporate it into your everyday speech.

Go to (alterhuman or comic) conventions and meetups, local or not, to engage with people in the community and fandom.

You could study the natural world and take part in preserving and bettering it: take up gardening and grow your own produce, learn the names of and about different flora and fauna, start fishing, or being environmentally mindful.

Make your own personal belongings of your choice.

Listen or sleep to ambience of the habitat your clan resides in. For example, I would listen to forest ambience since I'm Omatikaya.

Make playlists based off of stuff that connects you to your Na'vi identity.

You could try to match your diet to the one your clan has. Helpful sources are the Avatar cookbook (has its fair share of cons...), Na'vi Diet.

Start a nonhuman journal (whether on here through a sideblog or irl) for your experiences, feelings, and spirituality.

(POC specific) Embrace the culture you were born into and be proud of it. You can choose which practices and means to reclaim it.

You could incorporate elements of your clan's culture and spiritual practices into your daily life. Sources: Na'vi culture, Spirituality

You can wear clothes that resemble as which you had in source or are reminiscent of your clan's wear. Perhaps maybe wear clothing in a more natural color scheme if possible.

You can style your hair as Na'vi from your clan do.

SAFETY TIME!!!!!!!

Only wear more outward gear under specific circumstances; i.e. on Halloween, at conventions, cosplaying.

Really slowly expressing your identity (like talking about liking your source or wearing a small piece of gear) until it just gets to the point whereby the time you get bolder about your identity, nobody will think it's weird.

Only share your identity with the ones you trust the most, maybe even ask what they think about people with an identity such as yours before being open.
