Aneurin Advent Calendar: Day 12
Poison Berries
Lizzie said that he wasn't even trying to win her back and just accepting that she's leaving. She wanted him to fight for her and atleast try to justify/explain it to her.
You know what? I think he would've tried. Really. If he wasn't under the impression that he's dying of Tuberculoma. He didn't want anyone, who loved him or not, to see him suffer and be helpless so he let her go. But if he wasn't dying (he wouldn't have slept with Diana either because he would've found some other way to do his charity work because he wouldn't have a time bomb in his head), and even then if he would've slept with Diana (with honestly wouldn't make sense) and regretted it, he would've tried atleast to win Lizzie back or keep her there or tried to explain it to her.
Or even would've told her that he did it beforehand.
And I am a firm believer of the fact that if he would've told Lizzie what he's doing and why he's doing it and if he would've slept with the nazi after a few months (which ofcourse Lizzie wouldn't let him do and would've found another way), even then Lizzie would've understood.
What's sad is that in the current situation, Lizzie is overwhelmed with grief. She lost her daughter what, not more than 14-15 days ago and her husband is keeping things from her, she doesn't have the emotional support she very clearly needs and then she puts her all her remaining trust in him which is again broken with him sleeping with the enemy. Too much to bear in a span of 15 days.
All because her husband believed that he was dying. THAT is how much damage Holford did. I mean, I don't think people actually understand the magnitude of this. And it doesn't only have to do with him letting Lizzie go, it's also about what all he did under that false impression.

Not to victim-blame, but why did it take Tommy so long to twig his doctor was evil. This whole scene was coated in a thick greasy layer of smarm and insincerity.
"HaLLuCinAtiONs???" *blink-blink-blink* *trying so hard to look like he cares*

I found an error?
This whole time I thought he was just another of the show's many Michaels, but his letter is addressed from "E. Holford"
Random thought:
Tommy was born in 1890. Holford was born (I assume) some time around 1899. Therefore, both of them may have lived long enough to experience 🕺🪩 disco 🪩🕺
cranky Holford
