Elias won’t have to see grief on either of both because of him. Even if tears at innards to lose the one he thought would always be there for him, as he is for her.

It has been six weeks since then, and he has never felt as miserable. Time had been enough for him to repent of ever given away his family, her included, because he had been unable to deal with younger sibling’s disappoint. 

Coming back for the holidays had been postponed, arguing with his sisters over why he had taken work during festivities. It was late on December 31st that he took a flight back, arrived early on January 1st, three AM and he had sneaked into her room through the window, removing shoes not to wake any other. He kneels by her bed, smiling at the sleeping form before bringing her hand to his cheek... he has missed her. “Hey... Happy New Year Sweethear’”.
