yes ! another good addition to this , thank you . i personally think , depending on the soul / sword , it potentially could happen . quilge wouldn't be surprised too much , honestly , he knows there's souls in those weapons .

one of my headcanons sprouts from the dialogue in canon that quilge's reiatsu " shattered / pierced / penetrated " ichigo's soul . while it might be a literal interpretation , i think it suits quilge well . i believe that he is such a violent , brutal person that his own soul would reflect those qualities : his soul is capable of controlling & ruining others as much as his hands are , or his skill with a blade . i've talked about his reiatsu previously ; it incites darkness , coldness , the taste / smell of metal ------ chains , specifically . literally being inside of a dungeon .

his own soul wants to shatter your bones and hear you scream . his own soul wants to crush your soul to pieces until you give in .

this aspect of him hasn't really been used too much in threads ? but it has shown up on rare occassions ! namely in my thread with @killershinigami , where quilge's torture of rukia ruined her soul and forced her bond to her sword to become severed . he's absolutely capable of it , but it's a rare occurrence . there's also my thread with @ichigokurosaki , where quilge steals zangetsu away ... and i've yet to really write how he THINKS of zangetsu now that it's stolen away , i need to personally write about it .

for now, she has blood on her hands. she is a nobody here, just another member of the hachibantai under captain shunsui. there's been some reprieve as she recovers from the loss, but she knows she has to get back to her duties soon.

she closes her eyes, feeling the wind whisk through her hair, before there's a presence behind her. a brow raises as she turns her head to gaze back. ah -- she knows that face, who doesn't? shiba kaien, lieutenant of the 13th. he comes from a noble family, she remembers. how different, since she was nothing but an orphan.

SO THAT'S WHERE THE LITTLE BUGGER WENT. they'd been looking all over for him in their little flat behind the shop - how the kid managed to get in here despite the connecting door being locked, shigure had no idea. she guesses that's just par for the course with kids. you can't keep them out of places you don't want them in. well, as long as he was making noise, they're not gonna be too worried. whoever thought that they were a good babysitter might have to rethink their decision.

The Soldat positioned at the entrance of Muken can hear it. In the wake of their King's visit, the entry to the endless prison is in tatters, but the elevator is still working, and the slow, steady grinding of gears is audible. Six of them are positioned at various points around the sliding doors, each with an arrow readied. They had been given express orders by the Grandmaster to stand watch and kill anything that came out of there. They were the first line of defense, masks concealing their expressions of calm focus, their hands never twitching, their posture never changing.

What they feel first is a deep, encompassing null. As if they possessed the Almighty itself, they are given a glimpse into their own deaths. They see their uniforms sizzling, fabric sticking to flesh as it begins to dissolve, steam rising from their forms as muscle and skin give way to clean, blanched bones, their remnants congealing in piles at their feet as their lifeless skeletons remain standing, remain vigilant.

Though the terror stills their hearts and causes their bows of light to vanish, it isn't how they die. Instead, the closest one gets to see each of the fingers on his hand fall off one by one before his vision splits and the top of his head starts to slowly slide off, a neat line appeared along his eyes, which start to run down his face. Legs separate at the knees and a limbless torso collapses to the ground as it, too, is separated into more sections to join the meat-pile.

As the other five collapse into heaps, one of them at least gets to take a step in the other direction, accelerating his body with Hirenkyaku. It only serves to splatter his pieces all over the wall at speed.

Finally, the door opens, and two incarnations of death exit. The taller of the two views the scene with a sigh, raising an eye to his face.

THE SETTING  :  the dust has settled,   the war was over,   the battle has been won.     there’s a cotton candy sweet softness that dulls the edges of those memories,   a hopeful flutter of wings that envelopes the dawn   :   a day born anew.     the sound of unwavering childish laughter blooms across the courtyard,   the patter of feet & taunts are ping - ponged with unabashed boldness,   and there kazui stood  —  big dark eyes peering up at ganju,   a picture of  . . .  admiration  ?  plastered across his face,  or so ganju would like to believe.     ❛  heh, ❜    smugness tugs at the corner of his lips,   threatening to spill over his mouth.     ❛   y’know,  i saved your good ol’ dandelion dad,   so i did   ❜     &.  here ganju shiba was at his finest  :   brave hero,   valiant soldier,   truth twister.     ❛   he’s got a knack for getting in trouble,   tch,   what would he do without me?   ❜    he was no stranger to embelishments,   be they textile  (   compliment the bandana   )  or  rhetorical.
