Heres one I wrote on a road trip to Durango, Colorado with my mom. The song was her idea. A hoist man is the person that sits at the top of a mine shaft to hoist up anything that needs to be lifted in and out of a mine hole - miners, oar, coal, gold, etc... Anyway, the miners were so appreciative of their hoist man that they would usually make him his very own chair or bench or throne to sit in while he worked. Now there were certain rules for which the hoist man had to abide to, one of which, was that he was not allowed to drink or be drunk on the job. This was for the safety of the miners. And if he did drink on the job and was caught, he would be hanged. This is a song about a hoist man who drank on the job.
