Some time ago, I made a post about the possible meaning behind Ominis' name and how I thought he wasn't the bad omen himself, but the one who saw the bad omen coming. After reading more about Ni (Introverted Intuition), I realized why that interpretation made so much sense to me.

A quick disclaimer: I'm not a psychologist nor psychiatrist, so this might be biased. This is simply my personal interpretation based on what I've read.

TLDR: I think Ominis is an INFJ (Ni-Fe-Ti-Se) based on his cognitive functions and here's why:

Before we talk about Ominis, let's first talk about Ni (Introverted Intuition) 🧐

Based on several articles I've read, Ni users tend to process information by gathering many different puzzle pieces and gradually assembling them into one complete picture. Unlike Ne, which expands one possibility into many, Ni takes many observations and narrows them down into a single conclusion. Which is quite similar to how Ominis perceives the world.

People often describe Ni users as looking almost "psychic," but that's not really what's happening. They don't see the future, they recognize patterns that point toward it. Rather than focusing on isolated events, Ni naturally connects recurring patterns until they form one coherent picture. That's why Ni users often come across as visionaries, or even fortune tellers.

The clearest example is throughout Sebastian's questline. Ominis repeatedly warns Sebastian to stop studying the Dark Arts and constantly tries to keep him from falling even deeper. From my perspective, Ominis isn't reacting to a single spell or a single decision Sebastian makes, he's reacting to the pattern.

Having grown up in the Gaunt family, Ominis has witnessed countless times what the Dark Arts can do to people. So when Sebastian begins walking down the same path, Ominis isn't just seeing Sebastian's actions in the present. He's recognizing a pattern he's already seen before. To Ominis, Sebastian is walking toward an ending he already fears he knows.

At first, I actually thought Ominis was a Fi-Ne user because of how strongly he rejects the Dark Arts. I assumed his opposition came from his personal moral values. However, after reading more about Ni, I don't think his motivation stops there. His refusal also seems to come from recognizing a pattern that he's witnessed repeatedly throughout his life.

I also read more about dominant Ni, which is shared by both Ni-Te (INTJ) and Ni-Fe (INFJ). Based on Ominis' dialogue and the way he processes information, I personally don't think Te is his secondary function. Although he may come across as a Thinker on the surface, the way he reacts feels much more like a Feeler. More specifically, his reactions seem much more characteristic of Fe than Te.

For example is in the Scriptorium, Ominis firmly refuses to use the Cruciatus Curse even though it appears to be the only way for them to escape. He becomes visibly distressed, repeatedly questions what they should do, and even blames himself for agreeing to enter the Scriptorium in the first place. His focus isn't on finding the most efficient solution, but on the consequences that their actions could have on the people around him.

in my heart of hearts, ominis would exclusively wear matching pajama sets because he's always so prim and proper >:) also idk what his hair looks like when there's no pomade in it so i had to guess lol (he probably wouldn't have a middle part now i think about it)

and sebastian would wear random band tees (i had to do a candlemass shirt cuz...i've been listening to a lot of doom metal....and seb might like it heh) and like plaid pajama pants

oh and his hair looks kinda the same (it's only slightly more messy)
