He came from a pureblood background
He didn’t really care what house he went into
Both his parents were Ravenclaw, but he never had any kind of bias towards one of the houses
On the train you can bet he showed off the few spells he could do, which meant causing small explosions and some general ruckus
He went up and talked to anyone he came across so most people knew his face, if not his name, by the time the train pulled in to the station
He met a boy called Jisung who was 4 months younger than him from a halfblood family, and he introduced him to all the sweets on the train
And then the train pulled in and Chenle grabbed Jisung’s hand and ran off with him to the boats, not wanting to leave his friend behind
They go up to the sorting and Chenle is sorted into Slytherin
He was a bit sad he wasn’t in the same house as Jisung who was sorted into Gryffindor, but he was sure the two would be friends
Chenle is probably the most annoying Slytherin
All the older members roll their eyes when they see him
Because he’s so happy and smile and laughy and the teachers all think he’s nice and cute (for only a few months)
But he is actually a NIGHTMARE
His favourite lesson is charms because he likes to learn all the charms that will cause people troubles
His aim is to be able to charm people’s hairs into different colours, but specifically their eyebrows
He is a super hyper kid who is always running around the place
But even McGonogall can’t hate him too much, because as much as he is annoying and hyper he isn’t destructive
When he’s messing around in her class trying to transfigure a paperclip and getting it awfully wrong she hears his dolphin laugh and can’t help but smile
His best friend in the school is Jisung
The two are always doing stupid ass shit together, like trying to make potions in secret and accidentally burning a hole through the floor because they forgot that the potion needed only 8 hours to brew but they left it for three days
Jisung is probably the worst influence on Chenle tbh because Jisung lets Chenle practice spells on him
How many times Madam Pomfrey has had to take care of the two in beds next to each other
Whenever she sees them in the corridor she says “You had best not be up to any trouble you two, I’m still waiting on my next order of burn healing paste.”
People in Chenle’s house sometimes give him shit for being best friends with a Gryffindor, but Chenle does not care in the slightest
And whenever people make comments, Taeyong and Haechan jump to his defense
Haechan is in the year above and holy shit is this a bad combination of people
The two are always scheming over stuff to do in the dorm
So much stuff ends up going missing because these two use it for spell practice and it almost always goes awfully
And Taeyong takes care of Chenle a lot
He teaches him shortcuts through the castle and helps him with homework because Chenle finds it quite hard to focus
So Taeyong basically becomes his tutor and helps him finds the best ways for him to work
But Chenle is actually pretty good at work
He doesn’t fail things (though he sometimes does completely forget he even has homework)
But he is like a sponge for information, he just really loves to learn
He works better in classes where there’s physical demonstrations
His best classes are charms and transfiguration
Because he loves changing stuff to scare people
You could be sat in the Great Hall just eat some toast and you reach out for your cup and it’s a hamster and Chenle is running away laughing at your shriek
By far his favourite class ever is Care of Magical Creatures because it actually works off his energy
And Hagrid is by far his favourite teacher
They hang out a lot because Chenle gets in detention a lot (he never learns smh)
But when he’s set to working with animals under Hagrid’s care, exploring the Forbidden Forest, he actually has a great time and the two are basically BFFs
Chenle will never admit it to anyone, but on more than one occasions Hagrid has flung Chenle over his shoulder and carried him through the forest as he laughs
He just super loves Hagrid, who is like a big brother to him
Chenle actually visits Hagrid a lot with Jisung to help take care of the animals in his spare time, usually on the weekends
Chenle invites Jisung to his home every summer and his family takes Jisung on trips to magically places all over the world
Jisung is practically his brother by the second year
They actually hug so much
Like every morning they see each other and there’s cheers and big hugs (wow it’s too cute I gotta stop)
Chenle messes around for his first three years but then he actually takes things really seriously
He doesn’t spend much time in the library, but he goes outside a lot and reads and takes notes and studies for his exams
So when he passes all of his owls people are kinda shook?

Care of Magical Creatures- Outstanding
Divination- Exceeds Expectations
History of Magic- Acceptable
So he goes onto NEWTS in Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures and Divination
And it’s like he has been transformed?
He does his work on time and actually works hard for it
And he helps the younger students as well, making their learning fun because he knows how hard it is to focus
Sometimes he can get Peeves to listen to him when he’s being annoying
Partly because he got Peeves to help him in pranks so much when he was younger lmao
Oh he still plays pranks in his older years, but he’s better at being subtle
He’s one of the first people in his year to start using non-verbal spells because he works so hard at learning them
He doesn’t become a prefect because he is too much of a troublemaker, but the house really likes him
He’s actually popular in the other houses too, no one can seem to hate him
He uses his spells to help people too
Renjun wants to dye his hair red? Chenle has him covered- and it actually looks good!
Chenle is super proud of himself for showing traits of the other houses: daring, intelligence, dedication to work. He supports the idea that people shouldn’t be separated by houses, and that people should be all the good qualities of the other houses at once
Chenle does not stand for bullying in his house based on house type or blood status
He will jinx someone’s mouth shut faster than they could say chocolate frogs
But he is also just as likely to throw a party and provide everyone with excess amounts of sugar
By the time he’s in his last year he is committed to working with dragons
He spends a lot of time with Hagrid, and he gets introduced to Charlie Weasley who gives him advice on the profession
In his last year he spends his weekends reading about dragon care
The teachers keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn’t try and sneak a dragon into Hogwarts
He graduates with one of the best set of grades in his year and moves off to Romania to work with the dragons.
