( danny ramirez, cis man, he/him/his. ) 𓉸 did you see GABRIEL DÍAZ walking around TWISTED RIDGE DIVE BAR? i heard that the 30 year old has been particularly RECKLESS since the loss began, which is a shift from their usual show of RESPONSIBILITY.
B A S I C S.

I N T E R V I E W. what do you think of the entourage?
gabe scoffs, eyes rolling towards the ceiling as he holds up a hand to order a second drink. he downs half of it before answering. "those folks? i know i haven't been back in a while, but come on. they show up and suddenly everyone's back. doesn't that seem weird to you?
describe your initial reaction to the resurrection.
there's a faraway look in his eye. the stool drops heavily back onto all fours. "i thought i was dreaming. i've had that dream before, that they're all back." his shoulders lift and fall in a shrug. he stacks his glasses in front of him, just for something to do with his hands. his nails are bitten down to the quick. "i pinched myself so hard i bled." he holds out his arm to show off the little, half-moon marks in his own skin. they're mostly healed by now, but still visible in the right light. "but it wasn't a dream. and so i figured, maybe i drank a little too much." a game smile. "when i woke up the next day and they were all still here? i figured maybe it was a group hallucination. now i'm not so sure."
describe a significant loss that you faced.
too many to count. he drops his eyes for the first time. there's still a dull fire burning there, though. he touches a pair of rings dangling from a chain around his neck, thoughtful, almost, but ends up tucking them beneath his shirt collar. he doesn't talk about them, about the person who'd given him one of those rings (about the person he'd given the other to, before they died). "it's just me and ma now. my dad died when i was little, and you know about my sibling." it's a challenge, then, while he quirks a single eyebrow. his hand goes to the tattoo on the inside of his left wrist, the one he'd impulsively gotten after they died. he'd practically raised them. his ma was in no condition to do it, so he picked up the slack. a father, a partner, a little sibling...wasn't that enough for just one person? but everyone in marrow had lost people. it wasn't in his nature to think his loss was more than anyone else's. instead of choosing any of those losses, though, gabe purses his lips. "i lost my favorite dog when i was six. broke my damn heart." and then he orders another drink.
select a fear of your muse's & describe.
gabe's biggest fear is dying without amounting to much, which is kind of fucked up if you think about it. his mom is a doctor. his dad was a devoted church elder. they were worth something. what's he good at? fixing cars? great. no one will remember that if when he dies.
does your muse have a secret? describe it.
everyone thinks gabe left town at eighteen to go to college. in reality, he'd simply run away. gabe felt stifled by the walls here. he went to college at the university of maine for exactly 1 semester before dropping out. he got a job at a gas station not far outside of portland, scraping pennies together, going out at night, hooking up with strangers, getting drunk, and just living. he probably wouldn't have come home if he hadn't heard about people coming back.
B I O.
gabe's father would say he came into the world like he does everything else: stubbornly. the firstborn of jose and maria díaz, he was almost a week late, waiting until after the new year to make his grand entrance into marrow.
he had a fairly normal childhood. he went to school, played baseball until he broke his wrist, and welcomed a younger sibling. he went to church on sundays (even though he spent more time trying to figure out who would get killed if one of the light fixtures fell than to the pastor's sermon), had sunday dinners with his family, and learned that he liked building stuff.
when he was nine, his father died on the way home from work. it was raining. his tires were old. he died instantly. but ever since then, gabe started doubting things like god. if there was a god, why would he let that happen to his mami and his little sibling?
ever since then, gabe has shouldered a heavy load of responsibility. his mother never asked him to, but gabe started working odd jobs that very same summer: he delivered newspapers for a while, cut lawns for five bucks a pop, walked people's dogs. and when he was old enough, he started working at the mechanic's shop. he gave every cent back to his mom -even though they probably didn't need it. she was a fairly successful local doctor, after all.
he's also always felt particularly overprotective of his little sibling since then. even though he always had babysitters, he wanted to always make sure his little sibling was safe and sound.
in high school, he mostly kept to himself. he still went to church on sundays (because his mom would have a heart attack if he didn't), worked at the shop on weekends, and played baseball. he even fell in love. it was around this time that the stifling nature of marrow started getting to gabe. he wanted to be there for his little sibling, but he also wanted to get out of here. see the world. find out what else was out there.
when his little sibling urged him to accept a scholarship to the university of maine, gabe went. whitney went with him, which kept a little piece of marrow close by.
gabe didn't really do well with school. he went in undecided, dropped out after a semester, and worked as a bartender to help pay rent while whitney finished her degree. he got a few tattoos, learned how to play guitar, and they fostered dogs. he found out he liked to hike and camp and he and whitney made weekends of tackling different trails. they adopted a dog who loved the outdoors as much as they did. he joined a shitty band. he proposed. she said yes. he was happy.
until he wasn't. whitney had to return to marrow. gabe...couldn't go back. he tried. he really did. but there was something about that place. once you set foot on that soil, it tried to keep you there. they did long distance for a while. he even returned for holidays. but people talked in a small town. they wondered why he'd left and why whitney had come back without him. there were whispers and rumors of all sorts from his cheating on her with a man (not true, though he did have a boyfriend after they broke up) to joining a cult (not true). it drove them apart and he never came back.
his sibling visited him in portland. he still called his mom every sunday. but he only returned to town when his sibling died, and even then, only for the funeral. he couldn't stay in marrow. it hurt too much. (he wasn't there when whitney died. in fact, he doesn't even know.)
and then they came back. when one of his old buddies called and told him that, of course gabe came running back. but not because he believed their loved ones were back safe and sound. because he didn't. and he's here trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
P L O T I D E A S.
ride or dies. i need someone who gabe's been close to forever, a remnant who called him when the returned...well, returned. and then i'd like to think he had a group of 3-4 very close friends growing up whom he kept up with even once he moved away. could be remnants or returned.
little sib. i'm dying for someone to pick up gabe's little sibling. they were close growing up, but also gabe was probably kind of stifling in the same way marrow itself was to gabe. he was overprotective to a fault, and gabe left town largely because his little sibling urged him too. he feels super guilty about that now.
enemies. whether this is a townie who thinks gabe's a dick for leaving and only coming back to town because people are coming back, an entourage member who's annoyed with gabe's trying to scooby doo the shit out of what's going on in town, or someone who's holding a grudge from their high school days i am so down.
big sibling figure. gabe was always the one taking care of stuff in his own house, so somebody to act as a big sibling to him might be cool.
did they/didn't they or will they/won't they. gabe has a high school sweetheart who just came back from the dead or something, but i'm down to explore some other dynamics, whether that's something new or something that almost happened when they were younger.
bad influence. give me someone who when he and gabe get together, they just cause chaos wherever they go. those kinds of friends who end up getting arrested with you.
