Chennai authorities dealt with a scare on Friday after a bomb threat was emailed to the Tamil Nadu DGP office, claiming that an explosive device had been planted at the residence of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.

Rapid Police Response

Upon receiving the email, police teams and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) immediately rushed to the Vice President’s residence. A meticulous inspection of the property and surrounding areas confirmed that no explosives were present, and the threat was subsequently declared a hoax.

Authorities are now investigating the origin of the email and are working to trace those responsible for sending the false alert.

Similar Threats in Chennai

This is not an isolated incident. Earlier this week, a bomb threat email was sent to the studio of renowned music director Ilaiyaraaja in T. Nagar, Chennai. The email, also addressed to the Tamil Nadu DGP office, claimed an explosive device had been planted at the premises.

Police and BDDS teams conducted a thorough search of the studio and nearby areas. After careful inspection, officials confirmed that the email was a hoax and no explosives were found.

In another recent case, Chennai Police received a threat call targeting actor-politician Vijay’s residence in Neelangarai. The caller, reportedly from Kanyakumari, warned that a bomb would be planted if Vijay held future public events. The police later declared this threat to be a hoax as well.
