(This is honestly my absolute favourite world lore I have ever created.)

A broken piece of stone, worn with age
There is a place, deep beneath the earth, far below any known part of the world, where the stories of the world are kept. A white pillar of light on a black stone island, surrounded by tablets and scrolls. This part of the world is known by a single word, or it would be if others even knew of it: Beastiary. A place at the intersection of possibilities. Neither here nor there.
It is in fact both here and there, but the Fates like to pretend otherwise. A bubble of reality crossing both human and spirit realms, together yet separate. A piece of knowledge kept from the Keepers for very sound reasons.
The pillar of light reaches into the sky above, far beyond where any creature can fly, and far deeper into the ground. Only the tales that are current appear around the pillar. Those of the future are yet to materialize, and those of the past have crumbled into black dust. A sky made of stories yet to come, and an island made of stories long past. The sky, if it can even be called a sky, is always grey, dark or light.
The Keeper of Records, the Solitary Guardian of Myth and Legend, keeps watch in this sacred place.
So anyway, I'm smitten with this!
