i'm a bisexual female who is more attracted to females than males and i don't want to be condemned to hell but i can't help my attractions. what do i do? i'm not a christian officially but i want to dedicate and confide myself to/in god desperately. i feel disgusting. i masturbate and watch porn occasionally too and i'm such a terrible person for it all. please can you help me? i live with my mom and we don't go to church or anything and my mom doesn't even think i believe in god, how can i explain to her the path i now want to take without sounding as if it could be a faux? and if i confide myself in and dedicate myself to the lord, if i try out something with the same gender, not out of temptation but purely just in hope of my attractions to the same gender not to actually sexually stand, will that condemn me to be frowned on and possibly condemned to hell by the lord? thank you.
(From the guy). As the guy here I totally get the whole masturbation/porn thing. I'm gonna lay something down here that I never have to anybody, simply because no one knows who's behind this blog and I feel it could help you. I've been through the same kinda thing. I feel into porn and masturbation and I hated myself, inside and out. In the end I somehow managed to fight it off without telling anyone, but that's the power God has. One day I just fully broke down in front of God and lay myself before Him. I just didn't want myself anymore, I figured if my life was going to mean anything it would be in His hands.
This definitely doesn't mean I was fixed overnight. I backslid many times in both areas. I felt horrible when I did, but these instances grew far and few between and now I just don't.
As for being attracted to females and males I have some knowledge I picked up from sex-ed in highschool (we had a Christian speaker and it really helped). He talked on porn watched by teens and how it can screw with your sex drive development mentally (yeah it sounds like crap but hear me out). So yeah anyway he talked about it for a while and it pretty much sounds like what you're going through. So I think the first main step is giving that up, which like I said is a process (that God will help with) that may take some time. Definitely don't try anything with another girl to see if you feel anything! Guarantee almost 100% that it will make you more confused than ever rather than solve the problem.
In saying all this, God will definitely not condemn you to hell for an action that you may make depending on how you go with your fight against this. He understands your struggle and that it will be a challenge for you to change. If you are legitimately trying your best that's all He asks of you.
1 John 1:9"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
John 3:16-17"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
God does not ask for a perfect life free of sin to make it to heaven, but He does hope that we'll try our best. What He does ask is that you recognise Jesus as your saviour and have a relationship with Him, that's what being a Christian is all about, your relationship with God/Jesus.
So after all that I'll try and sum up the best I can. God isn't looking to try and make sure you get condemned, He wants the exact opposite. He wants to see you get past this problem and move into a more enjoyable life with Him. Try your absolute best to try and break yourself of this habit with His help (reading the bible helps, and some praise/worship music if you can get your hands on it). If you can't do it alone see if you can find someone to confide in, possibly someone going through similar stuff where you can help each other through.
Finally for the thing with your mum which I didn't get to. If you have any friends that happen to go to church ask if they could take you along. You could tell your mum they invited you if you want. Once you've gone once going again won't be as much of a shock. Also when you make it to church there may be a pastor you could confide in that can also help lead you through your problem.
I hope this all helps you with your walk with Christ and your fight against sin and for purity. If you have anything further to ask on this matter please don't hesitate to ask.
God bless, I will be praying for you :)
