Rough Verse Concept
Reincarnation and souls are a thing. When you die your unconscious soul returns to an ethereal pool of spirits waiting to be reborn. The time it takes for a soul to reenter the world varies from seconds to centuries, and no-one knows what sets it in motion. It’s believed that a traumatic death causes the soul to take more time to return. Souls could live several lifetimes and never remember any of their previous lives, or even believe in reincarnation, but awaken to every previous life three rebirths later. It isn’t known if a soul eventually disappears from existence or is eternal.
At any given time, 50% of the souls reincarnated don’t believe in reincarnation or souls. The remaining 50% may be aware of their previous lives, questioning their experience, or simply don’t talk about any of it.
Possible Plots
Two soulmates keep finding each other, whether they believe or not. Could span multiple centuries and lifetimes full of plenty chaos and fluff.
One character is older and the other younger. The younger character was once the lover of the older character several years ago before an accident led to their death. The younger’s soul could be awakened while the older doesn’t believe in reincarnation. They’re trying to figure out if they should open up, or leave the older be despite how much they still love them.
I dunno. This seemed like a cute idea for a verse, with potential for fluff and angst. Could be set in any period or genre.
