If anyone wants to be creeped out, here’s half of a recording of a numbers station broadcast that I recorded last night. It originates from Cuba, and it’s a lady reading off strings of numbers in Spanish, with bursts of data in between. Just before 5 minutes is when the bursts of data start in between groups of 5 numbers. Also, I wasn’t expecting the cute music at the beginning that announces the station coming on air.
If you don’t know what a numbers station is, they are sort of mysterious, but a widely accepted theory is that they are coded messages to spies in the field who have a one time key to deciphering the message. So anyone can hear them since they’re broadcast over the radio, but only one person knows what it means.
