er according to that person’s reasoning/that clique’s reasoning: since *us* (jb shippers in general ACCORDING TO THEM) do not excuse everything c. does out of recognizing that she’s mentally ill and/or do not give her enough leeway when it comes to her actions and/or do say that jaime was right in dumping her for his own mental health and the likes, we’re automatically dissing on women’s mental health and/or c. fans who identify with c. out of sharing that trait which makes us misogynists.

now, never mind that it’s a generalization if I ever saw one because most jb people I know actually do like c. as a character, but that fails to take into account that a) 70% of c’s issues are because she’s a narcissist (I mean it’s p. damned obvious she is same as it’s obvious jaime has ptsd) and that is something that wasn’t done to her by society or the patriarchy or whatever, b) c. is a fictional character and I’m allowed to not particularly care of her fictional motivations for doing things, c) no one should put their mental health at risk for someone else’s especially if that someone else doesn’t care about them too but only about themselves first (if jaime wants to leave because she’s bad for him and he realizes it and she has no interest in it being 50/50, which she doesn’t, it’s his prerogative). but anyway: not giving a damn about c. doesn’t mean you don’t care about women’s mental health. esp. since last I checked no one went to c. stans personally informing them that their issues weren’t valid, at most it was generalizing the group… same as they do with us ngl.

on the other side though, most of those people also fail to recognize that b. has issues ie ‘lmao she’s only ever been called ugly what is that even c. got it way worse’ and ‘she has no problems whatsoever’ and so on, which would be equal fare (btw most jb people do recognize that c. is the way she is also because of her father’s bad parenting and the patriarchy, but let’s just say that I don’t think pushing melara in a well can be blamed on both completely), but the problem is that then they go and say shit like ‘all jb shippers are the people who were ugly ducklings in hs and were so pathetic for wanting the hot guy’ which…… is already shitty and unfair af, then people got asks like ‘but if you look hot how can you ship jb’ (lmao), but then………. I mean guys I personally got people questioning the reasons I went to therapy (ie: all the issues I have that brienne also has in canon haha) and purposefully trying to trigger me/send me upsetting af stuff that trivializes child abuse plus the immortal ‘your mother should have aborted you’ and a list of abuse apologism when it comes to jaime which i haven’t published but was honestly revolting, the person who got targeted on twitter also got personal attacks - like, personal, not as a shipper group thing and was also the first person who got that bullshit ‘you’re too pretty to ship jb’ type of anon hate in what the fuck was, 2014 (guys I’ve been here since 2011 and I have a good memory) and like….. there’s a total failure to recognize that b. was also failed by society, too bad that the way she’s failed by society is so irrelevant that I’ve talked to endless people (not including me) who could see themselves in her very medieval experiences even if they happened to them in the 20th or 21st century because no one gaf about societal beauty standard thrust on nonattractive cishet women or anyway not many people do, and guess what, that was also 90% of my own experience when spoilers not only I don’t look like brienne at all but I’m not even ugly whatsoever. like. sorry but after I got people coming into my inbox specifically questioning the reasons *I* had to go get help that’s an argument I’m not listening to taking it seriously.

also, i could add that the one time I had the displeasure of spending three days-ish around someone who openly identified with c. for, er, mental health reasons that weren’t treated and who absolutely had reasons to be like that but didn’t get help at that point, not only that person managed to be fairly terrible to everyone in the vicinities, but telling her to can it gained me getting backhanded in the face twice and at that point sorry but any sympathy I might have had flew out of the window, and considering that I didn’t know this person previously and I only was around her for three days, I honestly can’t blame poor j. who got backhanded way more than twice for the entirety of his life (and worse) for having gotten the hell out of dodge in the books at least, and if we subscribe to the ncw interpretation of his show ending them I’m just sad as hell for the show version.
