On December 26th 1900 Captain James Harveyβs ship the SS Hesperus made its way through the waters off the west coast of Scotland keeping an eye out for the 75ft tall tower that would signal the end of the journey for himself and his passenger Joseph Moore. As they docked and walked up the 160 steps Moore later reported saying he had a feeling that something terrible had happened. He was right.
