Finished my stays!
I feel a lot better about the fit after attaching the straps and getting it all finished up. Was able to climb a tree and play some badminton with the boyfriend! (I kicked his butt, by the way. I'm so good at badminton)

Climbing the tree!

So, I've been working on a historically-inspired gown for probably the past year, and put it on hiatus many times. I recently came to the realization that I need to make proper undergarments for it, so that's what I've been working on lately! I wish I have been taking more progress pics throughout the process, but unfortunately I haven't been. But I plan to change that!
Here are what I'm going to call "hybrid-stays." I still have a little bit to do on it before I can post them in full, but here is a shot of eyelets and flossing. (It's my first time flossing, so please be kind!)
Some silvery trim that's going to go somewhere on the gown. Haven't quite figured out wear yet.
And lastly, some silver dupioni silk and silver 3D appliquΓ©s that will make up the bodice.
I'm going to attempt to make more progress posts moving forward. Working title for the dress is just "The Silver Gown" but I'd love to give it a proper name. Still yet to be done is the chemise, petticoat, crescent cups for the stays, bodice, finishing up the skirt, and making accessories. I hope you follow along with this journey!!!
My hybrid-stays and accompanying bum pad are done! I drafted the bum pad from scratch, and took the commercial bodice pattern for the gown and made some adjustments as well as adding the tabs.
The stays are made out of an inner layer of muslin and an outer layer of duck canvas. I added lace and a little bit of flossing, and they are bound in grosgrain ribbon. I was out of reed, so I used heavy-duty zip ties. Bum pad is muslin and stuffed with fabric scraps.
