but good ol' nikkytesla over here is never one to back down from a challenge! let's see if we can date this.

immediately, the front page says "purchased...in 1902" which means this was published in or after 1902. likely closer to that date, as other dates for events (such as an exhibition and all the wonderful pigs thereof) are in the late-1890s range. why report on news from a-decade-or-more ago?

only a couple ads feature people. the women wear puffy sleeves and loose buns---it's giving gibson girl. this confirms my turn-of-the-century theory.

but there's still no publishing information to be found. so i turned to the internet, looking for an "international stock book" farmer's magazine. i guessed the date as 1903.

my first attempt at the internet archive got me a farmer's guide from 1902. close--and interesting--, but no cigar.

but my second try was a success! it's a shame the cover fell off.

as i had guessed, it was published in the united states. specifically, it was published in minneapolis, minnesota in 1903. this is the internet archive link.

so what did we learn? not much. how to (definitely not) stop rheumatism in hogs, i guess? reading through it looking for publishing information & dates nearly killed me.
