Curious. A strange word to use. The old soldier’d been nothing but putting his head down and ignoring the world around him. He didn’t have time for curiosity.
But something was different.
Maybe it was the hands, broad, pressing against his armor hard enough that 76 could feel it against his skin. That little bit of pressure, more contact than he’d had in months. The red line of his visor traveled up, meeting that fiery, impassive mask.
The jacket hit the floor, tossed aside. Purpose in every movement, the biotic fields on his belt clanking as they joined the jacket. 76 stripped off his gloves in a single swipe - easier to take off the armor with bare, scarred hands. “...don’t expect any kissing.” Gruff, the visor crackling, trying to mimic the impulse of the brain to sound just a touch worked up.
This was a terrible idea. But it had been so terribly long since 76 had anything resembling human contact. At this point, he’d settle for dropping the human.
