Upon reading the Bible, Mark 2:18-22 jump off the pages as if the words were brought to life. Then I remembered what the New wine skin and old wine skin stands for. The preacher from where I first heard it said, “the new wine skin and the new patch symbolizes the New Covenant that the LORD Jesus Christ gave us [Grace]. While the Old wine skin and old patch represents [the Law of Mosses] the old covenant.” However, as I was continually reading the scripture. The LORD whispered, “It’s also a symbol of New Life and Old life, New self and old self, and Living in the Grace of God and Living in the Law. Living with these two [living two lives], will break and hurt the person in the process.”

As I continue to contemplate in His word, A thought came in to my mind. I was reminded of my current situation which I talk to God before starting my devotion. Though I have been renewed and given a NEW LIFE and A NEW SELF, I am still partially living my old life. I felt deep sadness and unworthiness as I continue with my devotion. I thought to myself, “How am I gonna do this, Lord?” I knew, I couldn’t do it. So I asked the LORD to make it easier for me, I asked him to remove my choice from me if He needed to remove the remnant of my old life. Then I asked Him again, “Lord, if there is a way [to make it new] so that I don’t have to leave it behind, please let it be. But if I have to completely let it go, please remove my choice from me and let Your will be done.”

Then the LORD spoke to me through His word, “Why do you question this in your heart? [Mark 2:8] I have the authority on earth to forgive. [Mark 2:10].” I didn’t understand what He meant at first.

Then as I finish my devotion and prayed to God, an image came in my mind. I was being baptized in water, and a remnant, which I spoke with the LORD was there. And the remnant too, was made new. And I cried and worship the LORD for He is good and merciful. His Grace is abundant.

Don’t get me wrong. The LORD does not compromise. But what He showed me was that, He will renew the remnant of my past; making it new. That way, the remnant itself will leave and start serving the LORD. And by doing so, it will not savage or destroy the friendship that was established. Instead, It will be a new leaf, a new set of branch that will bare fruit for the LORD.

What is The Holy Spirit telling you today? What things or people do you have that prevents you from completely [wholly] serving the LORD and living in His NEW GOD GIVEN LIFE? Don’t hesitate to ask God for help. He will not condemn you or push you away.
