Hirogami #16π©(End) - Zara The Silent Gamer
Hirogami is set in a world made of origami under siege from an all corrupting blight. It's up to Hiro to cleanse the world by using his origami techniques, and sacred fan, given to him by the Celestial Crane.
Hiro as a character reminds me of a ronin from old Japanese tv shows or movies but with a less gruff and more comedic edge to him. Having strayed from the path of the light, he has been offered a chance of redemption.
The game's utilization of origami as a design point, lends itself to many creative ventures and, experimental game play. Being able to switch between an armadillo, a frog or a gorilla which leads to a very satisfactory chain of abilities in order to traverse the game world.
However, a big issue I had while I was playing through this game is the placement of the origami form buttons being the same as the action buttons. I couldn't count the amount of times I would be using an origami technique, like a gorilla swinging from vine to vine, go to use an action button and, accidentally switch form and plummet to my death. Or have to start the long climb back up from the very beginning.
Overall, I liked this game for the most part with a couple of game play hiccups that could be ironed out with revision. 3/5.
