A few people have caught onto the fact that these are all Stephen King characters. I should preface by saying I have only read Misery, Pet Sematary, Cujo, Christine, The Shining, Carrie, Under the Dome, Sleeping Beauties, and Insomnia, so my repertoire was limited to characters in those books.
Hank: Jack Torrance from The Shining
Reasoning: ā¦ok look itās just because theyāre both alcoholics (Jack more-so in the book) BUT Jack is really recognizable. I almost went with Louis Creed from Pet Sematary but that felt too mean and frankly unguessable off of looks alone.
Sumo: Cujo from Cujo
Reasoning: Stephen King didnāt make any other Saint Bernard characters.
I havenāt seen the movie but this pic looks insane š poor Cujo
And for arguably the hardest out of the three:
Connor: Church from Pet Sematary
Reasoning: They both (depending on your playthrough or headcanons) are brought back from the dead, but they come back a bit different than before. Church also gets neutered and Louis starts thinking how Church isnāt a man anymore, heās an it now, and so on lmao. And they both (again, depends) are hit by trucks. Also this quote:
Church was a big stretch, I admit. Danny from The Shining wouldāve been fun (his psychic visions are comparable to Connorās reconstructions and preconstructions; they both have an outside presence in their head through Tony or Amanda).
My personal top choice wouldāve been Paul Sheldon from Misery (held captive by an obsessive woman; pressured to complete his work under duress) cuz that is my favorite SK book, but I was not about to draw crippled legs š
And if you made it to the end of my ramblings, here is a gold star for you āļø and if you have any good book recs (can be SK or someone else) please let me know so I do not end up reading another Insomnia š
One of the most infuriating things about like ALL SCHOLARSHIP that mentionās Jane Austenās letters will INEVITABLY say something like āCassandra burned around 2/3 of Jane Austenās letters, so sadly only a portion survive to be studiedā and then say like TWO SENTENCES LATER some bs like āAustenās letters, unlike those of the characters in her novels, are largely mundane day-to-day accounts of the events of her lifeā because not only is it untrue that her letters are mundane but why is like EVERY SCHOLAR EVER simply neglecting to acknowledge the fact that IF WE ONLY HAVE A THIRD OF HER LETTERS BECAUSE HER SISTER BURNED THE REST THEN MAYBE THE SURVIVING āMUNDANEā LETTERS DONāT REPRESENT THE ENTIRETY OF HER WRITING STYLE IN CORRESPONDENCE
Two things the scholarly conversation seems to be unanimous about for some reason: A) her sister burned most of her letters and B) her letter-writing style is 100% defined by the letters we have and we should be judging what we have of her writing by those letters specifically
