there are some things that andy isn't good at. gift-giving is one of those things. and he's embarrassed as he pulls the major to the side, asymmetrical gaze looking away as he holds his ( bandaged and stained ) hands out. it's not much, but he's been working all day: a wooden carving of a crow, painted to look like the real thing. "here," he mutters under his breath, light pink dusting his cheeks, "they've always reminded me of you, so..." andy trails off, clears his throat, "happy birthday."
Silence wrapped around the two, fading out any noise from the Majorâs birthday party. Laughter, cheers, and glasses toasted together were muffled, and Hyoubuâs cool, cautious eyes focused completely on Hinomiya. First, onto those mismatched orbs that were too bashful to lock with the Majorâs. Then to Hinomiyaâs tattered, bandaged hands. They presented Hyoubu with his gift, a brilliantly crafted, wooden jet-black crow. A chuckle escaped Hyoubuâs smirk, followed by his soft voice.
âThank you, Hinomiya.â The proclaimed âFallen Black Angelâ accepted the craft, holding the bird gently within his cold, pale hands. More chuckles escaped, followed by a rare fit of laughter, and a rosy hue which dusted on his cheeks.
âI canât help it- Look at you! So tense and stiff! It brings back memories.â Hyoubu recalled fondly, the day Hinomiya was officially recruited. Lock and loaded, with a steel sniper rifle in sweaty hands. But, even though the darkness of night blanketed the shooter, there were fingers that couldnât respond to âshootâ. Yet the necklace was rewarded, followed by haunting words.
âIâll always keep it with me.â A promise directed towards the anti-Esper, despite Hyoubuâs eyes fixated on the crow. Carefully, a long, porcine digit curled underneath the wooden birdâs chin.
âIâll name you... BrAndy~â
