I don't want to say much as these are only rumor but apparently one of the other maids had been receiving gifts from someone outside, but the guards apparently haven't had anyone coming to delivered anything for her. Could those gifts actually be wishes from a Hinnagami?

It would be a great help to keep the mononoke from drawing more power through wishes and requests. Paper and salt can only do so much.
The easiest way to learn the Truth and Reason would be to request them from the Hinagami, but that would make the ensuing exorcism more difficult.
