A day in Hilo. Warmly greeted by a familiar face, we scurried our way to the dorms. We didn't realize until after the Walgreens run that the place had already been supplied with towels... Our stay in Hawaii was very heartwarming as the Hawaii Circle K-ers continued to show us indescribable hospitality. We were taken to the Obon festival, where we danced a series of steps to celebrate the dead. The positivity of everyone's dance.. even when the four of us stood up, not knowing exactly how the dance went, some of the locals were willing to stay patient with us and teach us the ropes. Soon, we blended in with the crowd and became part of the group. We danced for a while as As we settled down, we had one of our first experiences of the Big Island's rain. Something that seemed like a hinderance on the mainland was something regular to a resident of Hilo. Back at the dorms, the four of us really felt at home. We gathered together and realized that this experience was way different than it was back on the mainland. We couldn't have asked for a better, hospital way of settling in. From the eventful night, we didn't even know what to expect the next day. All we knew was that whatever was in store, it was going to be a great experience.
