     ❝  don’t  say  things  like  that,  ❞   he  snaps  quickly.   what  goes  unsaid  is  you’re  too  young.   you’re  too  young  to  think  things  like  that,   too  young  to  look  death  in  the  eye,   too  young  to  throw  away  you’re  life  completely  and  utterly  for  another.   ❝  dedue— ❞   what  would  he  say .  .  .  ?

OH ? Was he bleeding ? Did he open his wound again ? Dimitri didn’t even notice. 

His body was stuck in an odd purgatory that was in between being fatigued and being numb. Between feeling everything and feeling nothing. The prince ( could he even still call himself that ? ) made no attempt to let his friend see what was underneath. if it was infected, he could not feel it. If the dressing was a bloody mess, he could not be bothered. 

Perhaps the only ache that left was that of guilt. And for what ? There was too much Dimitri could name. One, he thinks, is that he has bloodied and bruised his friend’s hands. And Dimitri was too fatigued and numbed to do anything at all.
