WIP: Maxcolor Fruit+Veg
Latest update: Nov23
(this image is a 2x version of the actual image, but tumblr wants to show the preview a bit smaller. click on it to view the picture in the intended way)
Pixelled 64x64 fruit / vegetable icons, with the rule that I must use as many colors as possible (building number of colors up gradually, by starting with 3 shades, subdividing to 5 shades, and so on.) without blurring away the detail.
Deliberately not in proportion to each other -- I attempt to maximize the occupied space of each icon.
180 colors are currently in use, in total. Cumquat: 20, Lemon:22, Plum:45, Cherries:28, Tasmanian Purple Garlic: 16, Pineapple: 13, Capsicum: 33, Carrot: 23, Tomato: 35, (plus BGcolor). Color count not shown for early drafts.
Colors are shared where possible.
Color interpolation for newer parts done using my (currently unreleased) adv_spread script for GrafX2, which is like a much-enhanced version of GrafX2's built in 'Spread' function -- it can calculate spreads in Linear RGB, LAB, or LCH colorspaces, and if the input colors are immediately adjacent in the palette then it inserts the interpolated color(s) between them, adjusting the picture to match.
Currently working on:
Persimmon
Strawberry
Apricot
Mango
Chestnut
Acorn
Old strawberry (the one in the centre row), cashew, and raspberry will probably be scrapped.
Thanks to Ptoing from pixelation for crits.
