Last night, Harley and I found out the British Hallowe’en cat trope may be based on Scottish wildcats!
They are tiny, gorgeous, untameably fierce, and, horribly, critically endangered.
Here’s a NatGeo video of a couple kittens who’re currently being rehabbed for release into the wild in the spring:
The orphaned sister and brother pair will be released to the wild when they’re old enough to survive on their own.

So there’s one more Hallowe’en association Harley can hold onto and enjoy! She was terrified of the holiday as a kid since she hates scary things, so she has very few. She finds that really hard all October. I try to help her find some nice things too. My poor girl. 💚
