There was a reason these NPCs were called that in the first place. The name itself implies that they are beings who are devoid of life. They are by design beings who only exist to fill space and nothing more. How funny it was to think that these lifeless masses were only here to give the illusion of life to this city. Creatures of nothingness who will never amount to anything no matter how much they struggle to make their existence known. Once their albeit entertaining revenge against the new citizens, they will return to being the forgotten mass. Merely shadows against a black wall, cursed by their own fate from the very beginning. This is what he can infer from their name of ‘NPC’, a ‘Non-Player Character.’
Certainly an artificial term but one that implied the out group, the ‘outsiders’ to be the ‘player characters’. They were the leads of this show, the ones who mattered and the ones who made a difference. The actions of the ‘players’ will determine the responses of the NPCs, and clearly recent inputs led to a negative response. But this was a Hell for the players, not for the NPC’s. Avenger couldn’t help but think of a situation similar to one he’s been in before.
As if on cue, that woman appeared. One of the lead characters of that aforementioned situation. The woman from the tower, the one who helped to thwart his plans while he was still an agent of Solomon. A name that was on the tip of his tongue but refused to be remembered. What he could remember though was that she was a dangerous woman with even more dangerous eyes.
“Oh how strange it is to see you again so soon.”
