I dont know if I'll ever be able to give this dude enough credit, the credit that he deserves. Aside from being a dope friend, I admire him professionally. Got thrown into a losing situation and not only made the best of it, ended up improving the situation entirely. Continues to make changes for the better without becoming cynical or jaded. Story time! In May of 2000, I made my first trip to the 154th Propulsion Element, back in the day we just called it Engine Shop, and I met this old man, who was a very young man back then. He was part of what was, at the time, the most dope crew in the shop, Secondary Power. The youngest and the brightest the shop had to offer, all on one crew. This guy told me “no worry about tech school cuz you going come home and learn everything anyway.” And, sure enough, when I got home, I had to learn what they DON’T teach you in tech school at all, which is Sec Pow. Brake & Clutch, JFS and CGB tear stand run, and installing sec power into the aircraft alone. Thankfully @sykage never steered me wrong, never left me hanging, and never stole any of my girlfriends. Years later, he would also teach me Jiu Jitsu, to which I am supremely grateful for and still need to go back and continue so I can compete in at least one tournament and cross that off my bucket list. I hold the record of lasting a full 4 minutes against him before tapping, which is longer than anyone else in engine shop history, but I did grab him by the foot while he was on his back and spin him around like a turtle for 30 of the seconds, so... yeah. Survival of the fittest, or in this case, smartest guy trying to set the new record. 19 years later and I finally see gray hair on him, since he’s about 7 years older than me and I somehow always looked older than him.
