#HialeahPark celebrates 2nd birthday this weekend.

BB remembers going to HML (Hialeah Miami Lakes) Sr High and hearing the majority of girls talking about their Quinceanera plans, taking their pictures at the race track. I also remember going to my first concert and seeing the Miami Sound Machine when there were two girl singers. Quee? Ok si, JU SO FONII it was that long ago. Those were the days that the park still had live races and oh the stories I'd hear from my mother and grand mother after their weekly trips to break the monotony and to place their "Big Spender" $2 bets! 

Como muchas cosas, the park fell out of grace and popularity.  Age was not being kind to the park and it was falling into disrepair. That was the last memory Babushka had of the park.  Bittersweet.  

But the Bittersweet has turned into Surprise, Pride and "It's about TIME!!" It seems that Hialeah Park has been given the love and appreciation it deserves from those who've lived in its community.

Si, you read that right!  To quote the above post-

"Hialeah Park Racing & Casino supports empowering the next generation of women and Latinas through ongoing outreach to civic leaders and businesswomen in the area."

ESOESOESOOOOOO!!! Just BEGINS to say how BB feels about this.  How great is this? From a place that young women used for "pretty" to a place that young women use for power. What a turnaround of the times! I applaud everyone who's connected to the project and wish for you unparalleled success.
