What did begin to disturb him was the realisation that he’d seen Delilah heading into the maze, and whilst any one else would’ve been left to fend for themselves, or for the fire department to spring into action. But, for some reason, he found himself taking a final sip of the whiskey bottle before he was up and dropping the jar of dirt in favour of moving towards the maze, against all the people fleeing it. He ducked beneath arms and barriers to step further inside, raising his voice enough for her to pick it up wherever she was. “Delilah! You still in here?”Â

Evan had gotten pretty good at walking around, his prosthetic working in sync with his good leg. He rarely fell anymore, and could run, jump, balance, all that jazz. But he had never been through a fucking earthquake with it. And yet here he was, knocked flat on his back and pinned again.
He was really trying very hard not to panic right now. The adrenaline junky who laughed in the face of danger and didn’t think twice about driving fast cars or jumping out of airplanes, was struggling not to have a panic attack because he was lying under a wall. His breath was coming shallowly, and it wasn’t only from the weight of the part of the maze on top of him. Thankfully, the ground seemed to have softened underneath him, cushioning him, and creating a pocket that had ensured the impact hadn’t damaged him more severely.Â
“Clearly those lessons have been paying off,” he said, patting the ground gently. He was talking to his magic. He knew it had saved him, though he had thrown it out unconsciously. But because he had been practicing with it more, it had been bubbling closer to the surface, ready to burst out at a moment’s notice.Â
He closed his eyes for a moment against the pain in his ribs. Why the fuck did these town events always end with people getting hurt? Including him. He tried to focus on the pain, but this was all too much, too similar to what had happened all those years ago. The accident that had taken his leg and the life of his best friend.Â
The sound of the ground shifting had taken him back to that rockslide. And now he was pinned again, wondering if anyone would come find him. He knew logically they would, but at the moment, the weight on his chest was both literal and metaphorical and making it very hard to breathe. If he could concentrate more, or if he had better control of his powers, he could get himself out of this. But no, once again he was helpless, a position he had sworn he would never be in again. He struggled vainly as his emotions got the better of him, pushing at the wall, trying to wriggle away. But he couldn’t.
Evan heard footsteps and turned his head. “Hey!!! Hey can anyone hear me???”Â
He had been on the dock when it happened, trying to decide whether he actually wanted to get on the boat or not. That choice was taken away when he was unceremoniously dumped into the water by the dock collapsing. At least he knew that he couldn’t die, so this was just more of an inconvenience than anything else.
Grumbling, wet, and frustrated, Alastair pulled himself out. “We can’t go through one fucking event without something happening,” he growled. “And now I’ve lost my goddamn flask.”Â

For once, Sam had decided to have fun during this town event. All right, so the decision hadn’t entirely been her own, but since her chief had told her that her working this event was unnecessary, she had decided to go full out. Well, as full out as Sam could go. Her costume was just a white t-shirt that said Error 404: Costume Not Found. But at least she kind of tried! And she was out and about in the crowd. That had to count for something.
Sam refused to think about what her family was probably doing this Halloween. Her mom rarely decorated--she said real life for their family was scary enough. But she and her brothers had always liked to play pranks. And their city had enough Halloween events to go to that they didn’t feel like they were missing out on anything. This year, well, Sam definitely felt like she was missing out on something.Â
Strolling through the crowd with a beer in her hand, Samantha spotted one of the two people in town guaranteed to make her feel better. Or at least who could make her feel better about her misery. Making her way towards Lee, she grinned, and nudged him with her shoulder.Â

Saturday Night 11:57pm
The crowds of people move about the harbor, coming and going from the haunted Queen Mary ship. The sound of laughter can be heard from every direction and the night is filled with the Halloween spirit. From with the darkness of the now closed down Happy Harbor on the outskirts of the Monster midway though, a darker chaos is a foot. It starts as a harmless prank, two witches having a bit of fun that ultimately spirals into chaos.
It starts with the rumble of the ground, glasses on bar tops vibrate were they sit and in time the shaking grows more violent. The chain of events that follows leads to more destruction then the witch had anticipated. Â
The unexpected patrons grow confused, some think its part of the show, others instantly begin to panic.Â
In the distance the patrons on the top deck of the ship can see the abandon ferris wheel in the now closed Happy Harbor rattle as it buckles against the violent shaking of the minor earth quake.Â
Static sparks from a power pole in the distance and a surge of power causes the carnival rides on the Monster midway to come to a screaching hault as they lose power, trapping several on the rides themselves. Power goes out in the Tasting house leaving many in the dark. The other attraction are uneffected and minus a bit of shaking many are unsure of what has happend.Â
The ferris wheel collapses and the shaking stops. The shaking of course causes instability on the docks and the boat rocks against the waves caused. A part of the dock gives way causing one of the docking platforms to come down into the water. The boat shifts away from the docks a few feet leaving a gap of about five feet between the platform and the boats open doors.
Rescue workers are contacted and on sight in a matter of moments. Most guests are moved to the unimpacted areas. Those on the boat remain fairly unaware of the events happening outside, unless of course they go to leave. Either way, one witches misstep causes chaos and destruction for all involved whether they knew it or not.

So we thought we’d throw a wrench in the works and give you guys something unexpected to work with if you so choose. Below you will find the listed impacts of the event and everything OOC you need to know about the situation. Please keep in mind not everyone would be affected by this, some may not even notice depending on what’s going on with them. This gives you guys another opportunity to plot. This event takes place much later in the night so you don’t need to worry about dropping current event threads, we just wanted to give you a little something extra to play out over the next week if you wished to do so. Don’t forget to run anything major by us, for instance, if you wanted your character injured severely due to the minor earthquake and power outage shoot us a message.
Things you need to know OOC:
Imogen and Avery were playing a dare game that leads them to sneak into the Happy Harbor attractions. These attractions were closed when the monster Midway was open for the nightly activities and they were the only ones present in this area of the harbor.
Imogen climbed the Ferris wheel and upon seeing something emotionally triggering she lost control of her magic and caused the earthquake that ultimately led to the power going out.
The Ferris wheel came crashing to the ground.
Power outages impacted the carnival rides and tasting house located on the north end, but the south end of the harbor where the sideshows, maze, and Foundry bar were not impacted.Â
The earthquake itself caused damage to a majority of the happy harbor area which is located at the Northwest end of the harbor.Â
It knocked down several walls in the maze.
 It also caused instability on docks and motion in the water that resulted in the dock collapsing in one area on the North end and the ship has begun to float away from the harbor just far enough that the docking platforms are too far from the ships doors for anyone to get off onto them. There are about five feet from the boat doors to the docking platforms that remain. Most on the boat are going to have no idea what’s going on unless they’re trying to get off. They probably felt the boat rustle for a moment but not much else.Â
