LOS ANGELES, CA, SEPTEMBER 8, 2014 – Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller’s Hilarity For Charity® (HFC), a movement led by the couple to inspire change and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease among the millennial generation, its 3rd Annual Los Angeles HFC Variety Show on October 17th at the Hollywood Palladium in LA to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association®. HFC is tearing a page from your high school yearbook and shaking up Prom Night with an 80’s theme comedy bash! It’ll be reminiscent of your school dance, chock-full of corsages, groovy music, and color-coordinated outfits that had you thinking you looked damn good! Tickets are currently on sale here.
“When we first started Hilarity for Charity’s variety shows, we didn't imagine the impact it would make in just three years,” said Miller. “We’re extremely grateful for everyone’s support in our efforts to build awareness and end Alzheimer’s.”
“I'm just really hoping that we score more on this prom night than I did at mine,” Rogen added.
Last year’s house party themed Variety Show raised more than $500,000. The evening included a roof-raising concert by The Backstreet Boys, and comedic performances by Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling, Ken Marino, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Billy Eichner, Rob Riggle, John Mulaney, and Garfunkel & Oates. It also drew some of Hollywood’s biggest names and supporters of HFC including Samuel L. Jackson, Jack Black, Hannah Simone, Krysten Ritter, Ike Barinholtz, James Wolk, and more! The lineup for this year’s Variety Show will be announced soon.
In furthering the organization’s mission, this year, HFC expanded its initiatives by launching HFC U, a nationwide program that encourages and supports college organizations to throw its very own HFC event. In its inaugural semester, HFC U raised $130,000. Additionally, HFC has added events in New York and Montreal, establishing themselves as a force in the Alzheimer’s and comedy communities. Since its inception, HFC has generated more than $1.5 million dollars!
After being actively involved in the Alzheimer's community for the past several years, Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller (along with some amazing friends) created Hilarity for Charity: an awesome, one-of-a-kind, and most importantly, hilarious event to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s among a younger generation. They later established the Hilarity for Charity Fund as part of the National Alzheimer’s Association, through which monies raised will be directed to help families struggling with Alzheimer’s care, increase support groups nationwide, and fund cutting edge research.
