(And yes, I know I haven’t updated in an age but this year has been one hell of a shit show from the very start with hospitalizations, family deaths, positive covid tests, care home arrangements, house clearing, legal crap etc etc... and that’s on top of all the usual stuff. I’m amazed I’m still functioning at all.)
so I didn't see any sources for this so take it with a grain of salt but I've seen quite a few people saying that the reason the bleach ending was the way it was is because a. Kubo's health was failing from stress and b. ratings for bleach kept falling so they wanted him to end it soon, hence the ending happening in the middle of the arc (and people have pointed out that some of the designs in brave souls are indicative of plans he had for the series in the future)
So, I actually asked people about the ending of Bleach. I’ve gotten some mixed information. One person said that Kubo absolutely wrote the ending he wanted to write. Another said that Bleach was supposed to end after the Butterflaizen Arc, with Ichigo losing his powers. But Shounen Jump wanted to keep making money off Bleach and kept pressuring Kubo to write more chapters. I suppose Kubo could have written the ending he wanted but was compelled to rush because of his health? I’m not entirely sure.Â
Maybe we can throw it out to the fandom?
I will say that one of the things I love about Kubo is the designs. And I know that he did some of the Bleach Brave designs; I love the parasol ones the best.Â

So I finished watching the finale just over 2 hours ago, and my gosh, I’m still crying. I can’t even begin to process what happened to Fitz, it has just utterly devastated me. I know past-Fitz will be making his return, but our Fitz, the one who we’ve watched over the past 5 seasons, has died.Â
