he kind of has no idea how it got to this point. or maybe he's so dazed with a sense of relief && comfort by the gesture that he didn't realize just how much he'd been wanting to try this. jayce isn't super surprised that the two of them ended up doing this; they were close, probably the people in each of their lives that they cared the most about. at least, that's how jayce saw viktor. and maybe viktor saw him the same way, giving his willingness to try this.

viktor's lips are soft, and despite the faint flavor from the lunch he'd had still there and tangible, it's a gesture that gets jayce's heart positively racing and his skin feeling warm all over. they move slow, but there's something jayce thinks he can feel in the air when they part. is it a newfound sense of love? or just a deeper appreciation between the two of them?

❝ ... what did you think? ❞ it's a simple ice breaker, something to get them both to reflect about what they'd done and their experience doing it. did it even mean anything? and if so, what?

Progress day had grown enormously in the past years. After Hextec had been discovered and somehow tamed, Piltover's name had made its way around the universe faster than most people could even keep up with.

Wherever she would turn, Jayce's face had started to appear in poster, the advertisements making Caitlyn's lips curl affectionately at her friend's success, one she had never doubted it would happen one day or another. She had only began her morning rounds, her fingers fixing the blue hat she proudly wore as a proof to herself that she had indeed chosen her own path away from her mother's expectations.

"I assume you won't be joining Jayce on the stage today either?" In the shadow like she often stood - or tried as hard as she could at least, her pace slowed down to walk alongside Jayce's partner. She had only heard words of praise regarding Viktor. Her childhood friend deeply respected his knowledge, his shared view of a world where anyone could receive help thanks to their inventions, the faith he held in both of their ideals for a brighter future. And Caitlyn wanted to protect those wishes and promises of a better future however she could.

"Jayce has always been quite... Eloquent, that I can't deny." There was no harm in her comment, more of a matter of fact.

A roll of his eyes is the first response is warrants Viktor's silence, a little tired of being ignored simply because it does him no good. "I'm helping you and I get ignored? What're you mad at me for?!" It's not a question he really needs answered, but his annoyance is layered in both his tone and the way he flails his arms about despite performing for Viktor's backside.

┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ⚙︎ . *. ⋆ HANDS ARE TENTATIVE AS HE REACHES out to rest one on the other's shoulder, a silent gesture of comfort, just letting him know that he was here for him. he hesitates, only because he's momentarily unsure how his partner would respond to such a gesture; he appeared tense, FOCUSED, like nothing should interrupt him.

but upon being given the permission, he's gentle in the way he rests his palm against the outer curve of viktor's shoulder. he takes a moment before daring to draw his fingertips along the upper part of the other's arm, fingertips gripping the fabric of clothing there for support. his lips part, as if he's about to say something, but decides against it, opting instead to sit with the SILENCE, use it to comfort his partner with his touch.

Jayce notices out of the corner of his eye. The way Viktor's posture struggles and hands shake. Jayce notices the little details. He always has. He extends a hand to Viktor's back in attempt to both support and slow him.

It wasn't as if he had much experience with this. Kissing someone, kissing Jayce. He takes a moment to smile softly at Jayce before he steps closer. He is gentle and careful with the way he leans up to press his lips to Jayce’s. One hand grips his cane tighter as the other finds its way to rest onto the other chest as yes this kiss was carefully planned but still made his message clear. I want to kiss you too. (for jayce cause he was taking to long with the overthinking)

A step back brings him abruptly against the lab bench where one hand gripped to steady himself. His other hand, however, found its way in Viktor's hand where it tangled ( to Jayce's own surprise ). He paid little mind to the gesture as thought or reason were long forgotten. His mind, his senses, everything around him was engulfed in Viktor. The sense of shelter Viktor brought, the way his lips felt smooth against Jayce's own, and how Viktor's hair felt soft to touch.

Solace was short-lived and only lasted for a moment before reason screamed him to focus as Viktor broke the kiss. Oh god... Jayce looked startled, panicked.

“ The... sun? ” Surprise is evident in his tone. Does Viktor truly think that highly of him? A hand draws to his tie to loosen it, and he slumps his shoulders. Maybe that's how the world sees Jayce now, and Viktor's fallen into the crowd.

It doesn't mean anything. He's the Man of Progress now as if tomorrow starts with him. The pressure is almost overbearing. Clearing his throat, Jayce pats Viktor's shoulder before nodding his acknowledgement.
