     his voice is quiet, soft. he holds his hands out for her to take, calloused offerings hoping to ground the witch in something other than hatred and rage. he’s felt it too; the pure anger that pulses through your veins instead of blood, making hands shake and form into fists ready to exact revenge upon the world. yet the archer knows (knows all too well) that violence is never the answer.

              except for the question of ‘what is never the answer’.

     “  punching someone’s not gonna bring your brother back. it’s not        gonna un-explode your house, or raise your country from the        rubble.

The harshest memories always seem to find their way back into the crevices of his mind just when he can no longer fight them off. Bucky knows, every night when he lies down to bed, that it might happen -- and every night it doesn’t, every night he manages to rest in a deep, dreamless sleep, he considers it a small mercy. 

Tonight isn’t one of those nights. 

It doesn’t help that he’s managed to tangle himself in his blankets, setting him into an even deeper panic -- but he doesn’t wake, only twists and struggles as the nightmares consume him.
