i have feels about a conversation I had with someone earlier. So the vtuber Rin Penrose has declared several times to have the pronouns of “whatever’s funniest for the bit” and as much as that has a joking tone it is a legit way of making a complicated identity simplified and digestible. We were watching different videos from Rin and she heard a statement on hers and went “cool he’s a dude, glad we cleared that up” and unfortunately my brain went “no actually that’s missing the entire point”
while it was a joking description of gender it was a serious thing and ascribing typical binary standards to it. Not cool. That’s, as I mentioned, missing the whole point. and it kinda the same way I feel about my own gender sometimes? Just something that changes occasionally while staying lowkey and not something that matters. The Any part of They/Any exists for a reason, and my presentation day to day about being more comfortable with femme styles and more comfortable with masc styles is just a part of that. It’s just feeling like that lack of understanding of existence outside of the standard binary in general when it was a more public person rather than me let me see maybe a more objective view of how she considers my gender maybe?
