[EARTH] Vorcha Expedition to Antarctica
via Stories from the Real Galaxy The vorcha people are known for their supreme adaptability, able to brave many a climate that proves inhospitable to the rest of us -- indeed, climates the challenges of which chill us to our core. And that chill would be appropriate, it seems, in light of the latest expedition plotted by the famed Captain Zrakk. Now, the renowned vorcha daredevil is assembling an expedition to brave the human homeworldās south pole, almost literally in the footsteps of the planetās historical polar explorers. Captain Zrakk, whose past accomplishments include withstanding Thunawanuroās crushing gravity unassisted, is currently soliciting other vorcha volunteers on Heshtok for his planned land trek across the frozen desert. However, he was able to discuss his plans and motivations over the extranet. āAmundsen human walked to pole, conquered continent! We do same, then claim Antarctica from Amundsen to Heshtok, found colony! Land of cold vorcha!ā The Amundsen in question, Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen of Norway, was the first of his people to reach the human homeworldās Southern pole. By the tradition of Earthās international agreements, and upheld by the Systems Alliance during its recent period of governance over Earth, much of the southern polar continent is politically neutral territory. Zrakkās vision of a Heshtokian claim, while in keeping with vorcha tradition that allows for the prioritising of newer triumphs over more venerable accomplishments, will likely not meet with human approval. Some members of his party also expressed via extranet the notion that they might find and ritually consume the long-frozen remains of the explorerās body. When informed that Amundsen disappeared in the region of the North Pole (which he also visited), the vorcha expressed momentary confusion, before suggesting that they ādo that one next!ā
A Story to Tell
I decided today was a day to expand on the line Kaidan has in the Citadel DLC. āDid I ever tell you about my casino run in with the vorcha mafia? Five thousand credits and a bottle of whiskey? Actually, never mind.ā I always thought he really should tell Shepard that story after bringing it up, but didnāt tell it because it had a chance to change the way they looked at him, because he wasnāt always as straight-laced as the Kaidan they knew and loved. Day Five: Nov. 17 ā Memories While studying the effects of eezo and helping other human biotics had been a worthwhile goal after leaving BAaT, Kaidan had gotten slightly bored being isolated for so longāat least he had learned control, over himself and his biotics, had even helped a couple kids learn similar control, but the colony was small and there was only so much he could do there. The death blow heād hit Vyrnnus with made him cautious, keeping his biotics on a tight leash, even when helping the kids tap into their full potential, but maybe him killing Vyrnnus was inevitable, teaching him a valuable life lesson. Vyrnnus may have been awful, his methods brutal and sadistic, but he had helped; with his death, Kaidan had vowed not to ever let himself lose control like that ever again, no matter how many lives heād saved that day by removing him from the picture. One year after Vyrnnusā demise, Conatix had folded under the investigation of bringing the turians on in the first place even though theyād done their best to hide what had happened out at Jump Zero, and four years later, heād finally come to terms with the fact that even if he didnāt mean to kill him, Vyrnnusā death had been a necessary evil, and if someone had tried hard enough the turian menaceāwhoād made two years, and then the next four of coping with what heād done a living hellācouldāve been saved. Returning from the edge of the galaxy, heād found himself planet hopping, finding passage on any ship that didnāt mind having a biotic on board, even if he kept to himself most of the time, was hard enough, and that was before heād been accidentally left behind on the space station orbiting the planet Heshtok. It had been a simple supply drop for the Vorcha home world, and heād wandered off the ship to stretch his legs while they refueled and restocked the ship as best they could with the limited supplies the Vorcha had to offer; they didnāt like dealing with the outside world, but with so few resources they didnāt have much choice. His footsteps made a metallic clanging sound as he walked. Neon lights flashed, giving him a headache, but he followed the lights and sounds, finding the closest bar inside a casino and immediately ordering a bottle of whiskey as he glanced aroundā¦the casino was dingy and crowdedāobviously a tourist trap the vorcha had installed to funnel credits from ordinary and unsuspecting victims, their entire culture built around combat. But Kaidan was anything but ordinary.
Mass Effect fact more people need to know.
Reapers: intimidate them
vorcha: okay you killed one city but so what I can take you.
Reapers: ... okay, lets remove their water supply.
*one week later*
Vorcha: okay it sucked but now my body doesn't need water to survive.
Reapers: THE HELL!
