To the man who showed me family is everything. To the man who told me material things mean nothing without the love of your family. To the man who would buy whatever my sister and I wanted, as long as we were happy he was so happy. To the man who took me in as his very own blood and would manipulate play-dough with me for hours on end! I have never seen this man as a "step-dad" because he has been there since the day I remember. He took me to my soccer games, and swim meets, he drove me to and from school, went crazy protective when I had my first boyfriend, taught me how to drive, supported me and made fun of me just like any father would. The list is endless and I am so grateful for having a father in my life like him. I definitely would not be the loving and strong independent woman that I am, if it was not for this man. He taught me so much about culture and working hard in life for anything you want. Today marks 9 years of him becoming an American citizen and I could not be more proud of him. Immigration is a huge topic in this country and I understand most sides of every argument, but I definitely have bias views based off my experience of having a father who worked his way up from a 3rd grade education, to supporting his family back home and creating a new family and life in a different country. I could talk about everything that I am proud of him for accomplishing, but today specifically I am so proud to point out having a dad that I am so proud to call hard working and loving.
