        Astrid almost LAUGHS, because she can't believe that this is what he's done to them. He's taught them to keep their emotions hidden, because they only get in the way of things, and for the longes time she had believed him. In fact, it had been easier to lock her emotions away after THAT day, and she might have kept it that way if he hadn't come back.

        Still, she's terrified of letting any emotion show, because there's SO MANY, and if she opens that door, then they're going to come spilling out and Astrid won't know how to make it stop.

“Uhhhhhh,” Nott made the usual groaning sound she made when scared or frustrated. She tried to make it sound casual but it came out very very tired. She didn’t notice she was swaying on her feet and for some reason had an imagine of two handsome men, the better looking one showing a board to the other, the other collapsing dramatically on the table he sat at.

Abby just couldn’t sit still and watch somebody else do any work in her stead. Since she is still pretty young and was chosen to represent her people to the outside world nonetheless, she makes a point of displaying herself as confident, capable, mature and diligent (even if she fails at times). Other people doing work for her implies that she would not be able to do it herself, which she heavily dislikes. You can absolutely offer your help to her, but she would much rather you two accomplish the task together than delegating it altogether.
